Director of Instruction
JJ Wood, PGA
JJ is a PGA Class A Director of Instruction and the founder of Golf Performance Group. He holds a master's degree in Education, with graduate training in sport psychology, has coached NCAA golf at Ohio State and Rice University, and is a two-time South Texas PGA Player of the Year with PGA Tour and major championship playing experience. He leads the Varsity Group and the performance program.
- Golf Digest Best Young Teachers in America, 2021–2022 & 2023–2024
- 2017 and 2022 South Texas PGA Player of the Year
- NCAA coaching experience at Ohio State and Rice University
- Master's degree in Education, with graduate training in sport psychology
- PGA Tour and major championship playing experience
JJ coaches advanced players and Varsity / Varsity-2 prospects, with competitive development, mental performance and college recruiting context. His private coaching is $200 for a 60-minute session.
Lead Instructor
Chris Ryan
Chris Ryan brings a practical, player-focused approach to GPG's day-to-day coaching. A Class A PGA Professional, his background includes personalized, technology-assisted instruction and head-professional roles at Magnolia Creek and ColoVista golf clubs. He has developed junior programs, coordinated junior clinics and tailored lessons to each student's needs. At GPG, Chris leads evaluations and ongoing instruction, helping golfers turn a clear development plan into consistent practice.

Chris coaches new golfers, routine game assessments, adult coaching and developing juniors. Private coaching starts at $150 for a 60-minute session.
Staff Coach
Dan Brown
Dan Brown coaches GPG's Saturday junior groups: Varsity-2 and Varsity alongside JJ Wood, and Kids Academy alongside Chris Ryan. He is also the Clear Creek High School boys golf coach and was named 2025 Houston High School Coach of the Year.
Putting Practice
Dr. Jonathan Brown
Dr. Jonathan Brown leads GPG's Monday Putting Practice for adult golfers, 4:00 to 5:00pm.
